I do (not) care
I don’t care if you like or react to my posts on social media. I’ve hunted down and turned off all such notifications everywhere possible so I barely know you liked them anyway.
I don’t care if you don’t read my blogs even though my writing is integral to my identity.
I don’t care if you wish me on my birthday. I actually prefer you don’t.
I don’t care if most people don’t call me to their weddings. It’s only good food that I’ve lost then.
But I do care if you don’t respond to me by yourself.
I do care when you don’t do what you said you would for things that involved me. Not just the big things but especially the day-to-day stuff.
Make those traits a habit and then even if you appreciate me in public, I’d feel distant from you anyway.
To me, how you treat me in daily life is what matters.
